Abstract

The aim of this research is to design a sorting machine based on color classification in virtual laboratory. Factory I/O software was used to model the process of sorting machine. The main controller in this research was used Mitsubishi FX3U which programmed by GX Works 2 and use ladder diagram programming language. The communication path was used MX OPC Server. Because the process carried out is virtual, the most important thing in carrying out testing is to ensure that all the software used is in simulation conditions. The testing process was carried out by running the item sorting system for 15 minutes with a random order of objects test. From the results show, the system created was able to work well in recognizing the color of the object. Vision sensor was used to recognize the color object. The accuracy level of Vision sensor 1 to detecting green objects is 97.3%, the accuracy level of vision sensor 2 to detecting blue objects is 95.6%. Meanwhile, gray test objects are processed when vision sensor 1 and vision sensor 2 are not active. The percentage of success in sorting gray objects was 89.7%. For future development, it can be equipped with an interface to be able to know exactly the number of items being sorted and also make it easier to convey information from the item sorting process.
